TECHNOLOGY WE WORK WITH

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

Transform your building into a low- carbon, low-cost, low-maintenance dream with energy efficiency technologies.

We have partnerships with a network of leading renewable energy and energy efficiency product suppliers and installers to bring your projects to life.

Whether you’re a school, church, homeowner or community centre, we can offer a range of technologies to suit various needs, all with the aim of making your building more energy efficient.

See below to explore your options!

Find the Right Tech to Suit You

Every building is different, and the technology that best suits yours will depend on the amount of energy you use, and the space and budget you have the play with.

We can help you decide between the technologies listed on this page, or other solutions such as battery storage and other cutting edge tech.

HEAT PUMPS

Heat pumps are the environmental solution to gas flue and boiler emissions. They use electricity to heat your building but in a much more efficient manner than traditional storage heaters. Heat pumps are 325-400% efficient. This means that they emit up to 4 times fewer emissions than gas or storage heaters and they are cheaper to run.

Heat pumps cost between £11-16k to install, depending on the complexity, product and size of the home. Energy savings will depend on your current heating type and energy tariff. Heat pumps should be around a third of the cost to run of storage heaters and will save up to 20% compared to gas.

There are two types of heat pumps available:

  • Air source heat pumps
  • Ground source heat pumps

SOLAR PANELS

Solar panels used to be a very quick win for both home owners, businesses and third sector organisations (including schools, leisure centres, etc…). Community energy groups such as CREW would help fund the up-front costs, which you can then repay through the savings in energy bills, or any income from selling excess energy back into the grid. Unfortunately, since consecutive cuts to the Feed in Tariff (FiT) which guaranteed a higher price for solar panel owners to sell excess energy back to the grid, it’s become harder for solar panels to pay themselves off.

However, all is not lost if you’re a community group/local business – we will do an energy assessment to work out the potential for a profitable/cost neutral solar power system.

The bigger your roof, the greater energy generating capacity you will have, and the more likely it is for us to identify a cost-effective solution. We will never advise you to opt for a solar system if it is not cost effective for you. We will then help finance the installation and you can pay us back through the savings on your bills.

LED LIGHTING

LED lights are on average 90% more efficient than conventional bulbs, and still more efficient and more effective than energy-saving light bulbs. By switching all your bulbs over to LEDs you can save 90% on your lighting bills and greatly reduce your energy demand.

LEDs are a low-cost, easily installed measure that can make a big impact quickly. Replacing your lighting can also have benefits from improved lighting of your building, leading to improvements in wellbeing.

Lights are sourced directly from LED suppliers, you will hold the warranty on the bulbs, and we have a trusted electrician who will do all necessary installation including replacing light fittings as required.

HYDROMX HEAT TRANSFER FLUID

What is Hydromx?

Hydromx helps make your heating/cooling systems more efficient. It works in any boilers, radiators or air conditioning systems in your home or business.

Hydromx is suitable for most commercial and domestic hydronic HVAC systems using water as a primary heat transfer fluid. It is a non-invasive, easy-to-install energy and carbon saving solution which works by improving heat transfer.

How does it work?

It’s a revolutionary fluid that heats in the water in your system (e.g. the water in your radiators and boiler) much more quickly, so it can reach the right temperatures faster – significantly reducing the amount of energy required.

It’s simple and quick to install, simply replacing the existing water or water/glycol fluid in your system.

Benefits

  • Heats your home up quicker
  • Reduces your heating bills by 20-35%
  • 20-year warranty against freezing and corrosion (annual concentration check required)
  • Extends boiler/heat pump life, meaning less maintenance required
  • Typical 5-7 years return on investment
  • Reduces gas flue emissions including NOX, carbon monoxide and particulate matter

Credentials

  • Hydromx is recognised by the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) & US Green Building Council (USGBC)
  • Hydromx is already used in major buildings like the Empire State Building where it has reduced energy use by 20%

Building management system

What is a BMS?

Small businesses and community buildings are used in many different ways, meaning heating and lighting often have to be in constant use – driving up your energy bills.

A building management system (BMS) can help tackle this by providing greater control over how and when you use your energy, to reduce consumption and save you money.

How does it work?

The system is wired directly into equipment like boilers, pumps, valves, and lighting. It manages your building so you only heat and light rooms when they are actually in use. It uses occupancy sensors, heating patterns and a heat loss algorithm to make your building as efficient as possible.

A BMS works through a central computer which connects to multiple controllers via an IP network, so you can see and analyse your usage data. You can manage and review your energy usage through a simple, web-based dashboard – all you need is a web browser.

Benefits

  • Can cut up to 50% off energy bills for badly controlled heating systems
  • Works on all types of heating and cooling systems including multiple boilers, biomass & heat pumps
  • Multiple heating systems, at multiple sites, anywhere in the world

Credentials

  • Government approved by Department for Energy Security & Net Zero on Energy Technology List
  • Energy Savings Trust and OfGem CERT approved
  • NHS SBS Hard FM2 framework, Crown Commercial Service framework, ESPO framework approved
